The Television Revolution?

Almost every American is familiar with the sitcom "The Cosby Show". From 1984 to 1992, Dr. Cliff Huxtable and his lovable family ruled prime time television in a world that was free of black stereotypical traits. Many claim that the show revolutionized television.  Dr. Huxtable was married to the successful lawyer, Claire Huxtable, and the pair had 5 well mannered children. Aside from a teenage drama, the children never caused dramatic injury to their family. Although the show is free of black stereotypes, is it safe to say that the Huxtables are merely a stereotype of a while middle class family? The show was created to appeal to a target audience: white middle class Americans. Critics claim that the show did NOT revolutionize television but brought out that fact that the stereotypical white lifestyle was the ideal one.
